Two Trees: A Doorway to Something Better

John Muir once said, “Between every two trees is a doorway to a new world.”At River Sage
Revival, we take that a step further—because between every two trees, we’ve learned there’s a new view.

Sometimes that view shows us burned trees, scarred by wildfire—disasters we didn’t cause, but still carry the weight of. They remind us of the things that happened to us, the long-lasting wounds and the silent struggles we rarely talk about.
Other times, we see beautiful giants—trees standing tall and alone, surviving everything. Those ones remind us of our own strength, capability, and worth. And then, there are trees that grow together—massive, intertwined, holding one another up. We see our families there. Our friends. Our communities. Even when the world around us feels broken, that view reminds us we are not alone.
Between two trees, we’ve seen regrowth after destruction, beauty rising from destruction and chaos. And it’s in those views that something shifted for us:
We stopped taking everything so personally.
We saw that people—ourselves included—are just doing the best we can. We began to believe that growth is always possible. That there’s still beauty here, even when it’s hard to see. And that cut the edge.

That’s what Two Trees is. It’s a space rooted in land wisdom and grounded in evidence-based research. It’s where real rural people come together to share lived experiences—something we’re often told to keep hidden out here, like secrets soaked in shame.
Two Trees says we don’t have to stay silent anymore. We don’t have to just “push forward” and pretend everything’s fine. We can talk. We can be real. We can grow—together.
Right now, it’s small.But it’s mighty.
We’ve witnessed quiet, powerful moments—parents and children understanding one another in a new way… couples finding a deeper connection… neighbors recognizing shared pain and shared hope.

This isn’t just for people living with mental illness. It’s for:
Those who love someone who’s struggling.
Teachers and business owners.
Folks with coworkers, employees, or neighbors they care about.
Anyone who wants to understand what’s going on in our communities… and do something about it.
At Two Trees, we learn. We listen. We practice skills that can make life just a little easier.
And we remind one another that change is possible.
This is rural empowerment.This is person-centered care.And it’s incredible.
